Carmel Wins Big at 2nd Annual Game Head Fest

This past Saturday, April 18th, Carmel Esports participated in Game Head Fest 2k20, an annual Midwest high school esports tournament organized by Stevie Robinson Jr. and his team, Elkhart Elite. This year, Game Head Fest grew immensely in participation through its sponsorship with the Indiana High School Esports Network and the growing esports scene in the middle of America.

Carmel Esports registered over 30 students to participate across all 4 titles represented: Overwatch, League of Legends (LoL), Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (SSBU). Sophomore Daphne Peterson placed 4th in the SSBU bracket. Both Overwatch and League of Legends Gold took the championships in their respective titles with the LoL squad going undefeated on the day. Standout performances by Overwatch team co-captain and starting LoL bot laner sophomore James Lenos as well as LoL team captain fellow sophomore Nyle Nasir earned them MVP honors in their respective games. Following his stellar performance across both championship titles, Lenos said, "It was fun getting to experience national competition against other high schools, I enjoyed the challenge of playing against the other top teams in the nation."

Carmel Esports will be back in action this Saturday, April 25th for the Cardinal Invitational hosted by Ball State University. This national online tournament will be streamed. Make sure to tune into or our Watch page!
